Caffe Lena Presents TrueSongs
Caffè Lena proudly presents TrueSongs 2025, our sixth annual celebration of courage, resilience, and caring—a one-of-a-kind evening where true local stories are transformed into moving original songs.
At its heart, TrueSongs shines a light on the work of local nonprofits that help create a healthier, more compassionate community. The event pairs six local individuals—each supported by a local nonprofit that helped them overcome a major life challenge—with professional songwriters and storytellers who guide them in transforming their experience into an original true story and song performed on stage.
This year’s storytellers represent:
CAPTAIN Community Human Services – Rebecca Lefevre | Songwriter: Emily Barnes | Coach: Christie Keegan
Epilepsy Foundation of Northeastern New York – Teaghan Ketchum | Songwriter: Sirsy | Coach: Shawn Banner
RISE Housing & Support Services – Robert Winkler | Songwriter: Rachel Sumner | Coach: Margaret French
All Abilities Productions – Keely Milligan | Songwriter: Reese Fulmer | Coach: Vivian Nesbitt
Sustainable Saratoga – Tom Stock & Joanne Yepsen | Songwriter: Dan Berggren | Coach: Jeannine Laverty
Camp Stomping Ground – Daniel C. | Songwriter: Crys Matthews | Coach: Claire Nolan
“These stories remind us how many people quietly face—and overcome—extraordinary challenges, often with the help of organizations doing life-changing work right here at home,” said Sarah Craig, Executive Director of Caffè Lena. “The audience gets to see a side of the community that’s usually invisible to us. Hearing these stories firsthand changes the way you see the world.”
Performances by Crys Matthews, Emily Barnes, Sirsy, Rachel Sumner, Reese Fulmer, and Dan Berggren will bring these stories to life through song—an evening that uplifts, unites, and celebrates the power of empathy and shared humanity.
TrueSongs 2025 is made possible through the generous support of Business For Good.
