Bubbling with romance, wit, and irresistible melody, Donizetti and Romani’s “The Elixir of Love” tells the story of Nemorino, a tenderhearted young man hopelessly smitten with the clever and captivating Adina. When a traveling quack named Doctor Dulcamara arrives in town with his “miracle” potions, Nemorino invests his last coin in a bottle of supposed love elixir—really just a bottle of Bordeaux. But as the potion (and his confidence) take effect, chaos, charm, and genuine feeling intertwine in this timeless romantic comedy.
