Embrace The Belmont II
Embrace the Belmont II brings the Saratoga Springs year-round community together to learn basic handicapping and explore the 2025 Belmont Stakes field. This event helps local business owners, professionals, and residents deepen their understanding of horse racing—embracing the sport, explaining it to others, and perhaps even bringing new fans to the track. Last year’s sold-out event at the National Museum of Racing proved the demand, so this year, Embrace the Belmont II moves to Universal Preservation Hall, accommodating up to 400 attendees.
5:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 3 (VIP: 5:00 – 5:30 p.m.) Emcee: Donna Brothers, fresh from covering the Triple Crown for NBC Sports, leading a “Handicapping 101” session and a Belmont Stakes discussion with expert handicappers. Admission: $57 (a nod to the 157th Belmont Stakes) VIP: $157 (includes cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and exclusive time with handicappers and civic leaders) All proceeds benefit Therapeutic Horses of Saratoga (THS), a nonprofit horse sanctuary providing mental wellness programs through equine-assisted psychotherapy for veterans, domestic violence survivors, and those in need.
Meet the Founders
Donna Brothers, a former jockey and one of horse racing’s most recognized voices, has spent years covering the sport for NBC Sports. Her deep industry expertise and passion for growing the sport make her an invaluable advocate for bringing in new fans and elevating horse racing’s reach.
Laura Simiele, a lifelong racing fan and industry professional, founded Untamed Filly, a platform dedicated to introducing and educating new racing enthusiasts. She is also a partner in Stars Aligned Stable, helping people experience the excitement of racehorse ownership.
Rachel Dunn, a managing partner at Sackatoga Stables, has played a pivotal role in racing and is instrumental in launching StableConnect, an innovative platform designed to connect owners, trainers, and fans.
Together, these three dynamic women created Embrace the Belmont to share their love for horse racing and support a meaningful cause. Their vision is simple: help the Saratoga community engage with the sport while making a lasting impact through Therapeutic Horses of Saratoga.
