In the Round Series at UPH

Our mission for this series is to uplift and highlight the work of a variety of singer/songwriting artists on the rise to stardom! In the Round Series is in partnership with WEXT.

In the Round: Kimbra
7:30 p.m. Friday, April 19

New Zealand-born pop star Kimbra is a musical force innovating the shape of pop today as a songwriter, musician, producer, and adventurous performer.

In the Round: Jocelyn and Chris with Sydney Worthley
7:30 p.m. Friday, May 17

Jocelyn and Chris: Together with their band, they’ve charted five consecutive commercial radio singles in the Billboard AAA Top 40, taken two records to #1 on the Relix Jambands Top 30, and appeared nationally on NBC’s Today Show. The siblings, both recent graduates of Harvard University, have recorded eight albums and tour coast to coast.

Sydney Worthley is a singer-songwriter at heart but when she steps on stage all bets are off. Each song starts in a corner of a room, pulling inspiration from Phoebe Bridgers and Taylor Swift and ends on a stage, piecing alt-rock tunes from her 2020 EP with unreleased personal ballads.

In the Round: Shayna Steele with Buggy Jive
7:30 p.m. Friday, June 14

One of the greatest singing sensations of our time, known from recordings with Snarky Puppy and Moby and a host of other stars, Shayna Steele takes flight on her third album, “Watch Me Fly”.  Offering six self-penned originals and four select classics ranging from Soul via Blues and Gospel and easily crossing over to retro R&B and Jazz, showcasing Shayna Steele’s supremely soulful energy, as well as her mind-blowing vocal artistry and songwriting skills.

Buggy Jive is a soul rock singer-songwriter quietly uploading songs and music videos from a basement studio somewhere in Upstate New York. He was recently honored as a 2023 “Top Shelf” Tiny Desk Contest finalist; his latest release “The Ghost of Alexander” was named Album of the Year at Upstate New York’s 2023 “Eddie” Awards. A string of high-profile shows this fall included a well-received opening slot for Macy Gray’s “Reset” tour kickoff in Troy, NY.
